Master’s thesis discussion

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the College of Law witnessed the discussion of the Master’s thesis entitled “The Legal Regulation of Personal Data Protection in Light of Modern Technologies,” submitted by student Mu’tasim Tariq Rashid Muhammad.
The thesis addressed the challenges posed by rapid technological development, which has made personal data vulnerable to misuse and violations, necessitating the search for effective legal protection. The study highlighted:
* The evolution of the concept of privacy to include digital data stored and processed through modern systems.
* The risks associated with digital processing and forms of violations such as manipulation, disclosure, or unauthorized access.
* Highlighting the legislative gap between advanced laws (such as the European Regulation) and national legislation that needs development, including that of Iraq.
* The impact of complex technologies such as artificial intelligence on individual privacy.
The thesis aimed to demonstrate how to provide legal protection for data in light of digital transformation, assess the adequacy of international and national rules, and propose legislation that guarantees individual privacy in the digital environment.
