Scientific contribution by two faculty members from the College of Law

As part of efforts to enhance legal awareness of the rights of people with disabilities, a select group of faculty members from the College of Law participated in a course entitled “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities in International Human Rights Law and Iraqi Law” at the College of Basic Education.

Dr. Firas Jirjis Khalaf Al-Khatouni, specializing in Private Law at the College of Law, and Dr. Hala Ahmed Mahmoud, specializing in Public International Law at the College of Law, delivered lectures addressing the international legal framework for protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. The lectures focused on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and reviewed relevant constitutional and legislative foundations within Iraqi law.

During their presentations, the lecturers emphasized the importance of disseminating legal culture and raising societal awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities. This, they argued, contributes to supporting their inclusion and ensuring their legal protection. They also highlighted the role of academic institutions in consolidating human rights principles. The course saw participation from [list of participants].

The course witnessed significant interaction from the attendees, including faculty members and students, who praised the importance and academic and humanitarian value of the topics presented.
