In the interest of the Deanship of the College of Law at the University of Mosul to activate its societal role and work to educate society about the dangers of phenomena and pests that have a role in destabilizing society and tampering with the security of its members, our college has been providing specialized legal studies and research that focus on its societal aspect and works to clarify the legal position on it, and From this standpoint, Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi and Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khaled Jassim presented the community-based study entitled A Study of the Iraqi Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017, which was submitted to the Iraqi Ministry of Interior/Community Police Department/Community Police Division in Nineveh, where it addressed The criminalization policy in the Iraqi Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Law and its punishment policy, and its results confirmed the position of the Iraqi legislator on drugs and psychotropic substances, touching on the criminal and punitive policy, pointing to proportionality and gradation in punishment and what is related to criminal intent. This study comes within a series of studies and research presented by professors. Our college teaches state departments and institutions within the scope of their cultural and societal interaction and works to prepare the individual to exercise his societal role as the basic element in building and thriving society.
