Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal al-Din al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision and presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law at the University of Mosul, the members of the College Council and the Director of the National Security Office in the Second Complex, and the follow-up of Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali, Head of the Human Rights Law Branch in our College, he established In the above branch, on Monday, the sixth of November 2023, the educational symposium tagged extremism and its dangers to society, ways to prevent it, and its impact on human rights, which began with the reading of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the most honorable of us all, the martyrs of proud Iraq and the martyrs of Gaza, then Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, gave his speech. At the beginning, he welcomed the distinguished guests, including officers of the National Security Service, researchers, academics, and students, directing his deep thanks to the heroes of the National Security Service and our security services for their distinguished efforts in spreading safety and security throughout Mosul, Al-Hadaba, our proud Iraq, appreciating their role in raising awareness of citizenship, acceptance of others, and the message of love and peace, referring to the role of our college in Cooperating with community organizations and state departments and institutions in disseminating the values of democracy, its features and human rights standards among segments of society and its individuals, indicating the role of the University of Mosul in establishing activities and events that preserve national identity and societal cohesion leading to progress and prosperity. Then Colonel Ali Al-Araji / Director of the Department of Combating Extremism in The National Security Service / Nineveh, a lecture that he began by offering his deep thanks and gratitude to the Deanship of the College of Law for holding activities and events that would spread community awareness of the importance of communication between society and its members with the security services, pointing to the importance of instilling the values of peaceful coexistence and cooperation with society and civil society organizations, starting with the family in which It is the first societal building block in the upbringing of the individual, as he is the foundation of society, with the importance of concerted efforts in developing plans and studies aimed at combating hate speech by following the method of advice, guidance, and direction, and combating deviant behaviors and ideologies that are rejected by society, as well as working to return the displaced, rehabilitate them, and integrate them into society, and the consequent support for societal peace. And strengthening it, explaining the concept of extremism, its types and forms, which may be intellectual, religious, political, or moral, and its factors that are either individual or collective, while explaining its dangers that lead to the decline and collapse of society, indicating that its most important causes are the presence of weakness in the prevailing values and principles in society, while moving away from the values of religion, its teachings, and understanding. What is false is also the violation of human rights and basic freedoms, fanaticism in its various forms and manifestations, and the bad use of means of communication and communication of all kinds and forms, stressing the societal, institutional, educational and educational role in preserving societal gains and reducing any negative phenomenon by communicating and cooperating with the security services and reporting on everything that might destabilize it. Then Dr. Omar Faisal Fadl Al-Khazraji, a trainer in sustainable development and peace building, presented his lecture in which he pointed out the importance of sound upbringing since childhood within the family and the role of that in Building a personality that contributes to societal construction and human progress, rejecting all behaviors and phenomena that are alien to society, while emphasizing the role of scientific, research, cultural, and academic activities and events aimed at spreading the values and principles of dialogue, cooperation, tolerance, and acceptance of others, and the role of that in preserving our governorate, our society, and our Iraq. Then Dr. Hoda Hadi Mahmoud delivered/ Human Rights Law Branch, her lecture in which she explained the role of extremism in negatively affecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, which were approved and protected by international instruments and conventions, legislation and national laws, with the importance of confronting ideas that hinder individuals from exercising their fundamental rights and freedoms and also hinder the wheel of development and the results they may lead to. To the point of cultural backwardness, then the attendees asked a number of questions and inquiries about the topic of the symposium, which were answered in detail by those in charge of it. In conclusion, the Dean of the College presented certificates of appreciation to the distinguished guests, thanking their efforts in participating in this activity, which comes within the series of scientific, cultural, and student activities of our college during The current academic year 2023-2024.
