International Day of the Arabic Language

The eighteenth of each year is an international day in which the Arabic language is celebrated. On this date in the year 1973, United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 3190 (XXVIII) was issued to include the Arabic language among the official and working languages of the United Nations.
This decision did not come suddenly, but was preceded by international attempts through which the United Nations was able to consider Arabic as an official language
In 1948, the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared at its third session in Beirut that the Arabic language was the official working language at that session.
In 1954, United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 878 was issued permitting only written translation into Arabic. In 1966, UNESCO issued a resolution to promote the use of the Arabic language there. In 1973, General Assembly Resolution No. 3190 was issued recommending that Arabic be made an official language of the United Nations General Assembly. The United Nations and its bodies,
The Arabic language, like other languages, is a means of cultural communication, and this is what has made it today the sixth officially approved language in the United Nations. Resolution 3190, like Resolution 3190, is a qualitative addition devoted to promoting work in the Arabic language, being an official language. It is a call to strengthen work in the Arabic language, explain its importance, study the dimensions of its global impact, and celebrate it nationally. In all countries as befits them by holding workshops, seminars and intellectual lectures in the corridors of universities and schools to remind of the role of the Arabic language and its sublime virtues as a message to humanity and the language of civilizational communication with meanings of peace and beauty. It is the language of the Holy Qur’an and contains miracles and brevity.
