The Fourth International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Law at the University of Mosul,,,
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul, and in the presence of Professor Dr. Munir Salem Taha, Assistant President of the University of Mosul for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, Assistant President of the University of Mosul for Administrative Affairs, and a number of members of our university council, in addition to researchers. And academics and those interested in legal affairs, with the participation of researchers from Iraqi and Arab universities, and with the follow-up of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and headed by Professor Dr. Muhammad Younis Yahya, the preparatory committee, and under the slogan (Towards sustainable development dominated by peace and good governance), it was launched in the hall of the Scientific and Literary Forum at the Presidency of the University Mosul on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, activities of the first day of the fourth international scientific conference of our college, entitled (The role of law in sustaining peace, establishing justice, and establishing strong institutions), where the idea of the conference represented goal 16 of the goals set by the Sustainable Development Plan 2015-2030, which is objectively linked to the goals. The other is that peace, justice, and the establishment of strong institutions are pivotally linked to development. The conference began its work by reading what was available from the wise Quran by the reciter, Dr. Ali Muhammad Reda, reading Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the most honorable of us all, and playing the national anthem of the Republic of Iraq. Then Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, delivered his speech in which At its beginning, he welcomed the assistant president of the University of Mosul, members of its council, and the honorable audience, praising the role of the University of Mosul in achieving the goals of sustainable development, including Goal 16, which was addressed in this conference, noting that development is pivotally linked to justice and peace and building strong institutions that contribute to achieving justice in all its forms, referring to the achievements of the University of Mosul in This context, which culminated in the establishment of the Peacebuilding Center, as well as our university obtaining the UNESCO chair for promoting a culture of peace and rejecting violent extremism, which is the third chair at the level of Iraq. Our college also witnessed the submission of its teachers and researchers to research and studies on the above goal, based on its strategy aimed at establishing justice and preserving the rights of citizens. Concluding his speech, he expressed his sincere appreciation to the researchers participating in the proceedings of our conference, appreciating the tireless efforts of all its committees and the supporting parties represented by Al Salam Islamic Bank, which had an effective and distinguished role in establishing this conference. Then, Dr. Muhammad Yunus Yahya, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, gave his speech in which he touched on the goals of sustainable development. In addressing the thorny issues related to human life, he pointed out the role of the United Nations in activating and supporting programs aimed at strengthening the rule of law by establishing institutions subject to oversight, pointing to the role of law as a method for resolving conflicts, stressing the importance of concerted efforts to achieve a better future for all of humanity, as Dr. Sarah Saleem delivered. The President of the Tasnim International Journal for Legal Sciences gave her speech in which she praised Nineveh Governorate, its historical status and the scientific, research and academic heritage it contains, indicating the readiness of the Tasnim International Journal for the Humanities to contribute to the publication of the research of our conference. Then a video presentation was presented about the stages of the establishment and development of the University of Mosul, the College of Law, etc. It contains scientific, research, academic and administrative facilities, in addition to its contribution to providing society and state departments and institutions with specialized legal expertise. Then the opening session began under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Akram Mahmoud Hussein and Dr. Alia Ghazi Taher as rapporteur, which witnessed the presentation of specialized scientific research on the role of bank governance in enabling sustainable development. After that, the session’s activities began. The first scientific study, headed by Professor Dr. Yasser Basem Thanoun and Assistant Professor Dr. Soha Hamid Salim, witnessed the presentation of a number of researches that dealt with government corruption and its impact on human rights, legislative amendment and its role in achieving sustainable development, the effectiveness of the civil judiciary and digital advocacy and its impact in achieving judicial justice and the pursuit of comprehensive and sustainable growth. Water diplomacy and the sustainability of peace in the Arab region and the requirements for achieving sustainable development in light of armed conflicts. Then the work of the second scientific session began under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Muhammad Abbas Hamoudi and Dr. Suhad Abdel-Jamal Abdel-Karim as rapporteur, during which a number of research was presented that dealt with privacy within the framework of artificial intelligence and the efforts of the League of Arab States. To implement Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals, the independence of the judiciary as a basis for national institutional reform, constitutional protection for sustainable environmental development, the governance of the central bank, banks and institutions, the role of the rules of private international law in achieving development, and the role of environmental peacebuilding in promoting stability in countries after armed conflicts, and at the conclusion of the first day’s sessions The honorable attendees asked many questions and inquiries about the research presented, which were answered in detail by the researchers. Then the first day’s sessions were concluded with the hope of resuming the conference sessions on Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the halls of the College of Law.
