Within the framework of scientific research activities and collaboration between the Department of Internal and Preventive Medicine and the Department of Microbiology, the research team comprising Prof. Dr. Qais Talib Shakir, Prof. Dr. Fanar Ablahad Ishaq, Asst. Prof. Dr. Wissam Salem Hassan, and Lecturer Dr. Osama Ezzeldine Abdullah from the College of Veterinary Medicine / University of Mosul successfully registered six new genetic sequences of the Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus in the GenBank (Global Gene Bank).

These sequences were assigned the accession numbers (PQ865901.1, PQ865902.1, PQ865903.1, PQ865904.1, PQ865905.1, and PQ865906.1) and were registered under the name of the College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul.

This registration is considered the first of its kind for this virus in buffaloes in Nineveh Governorate, as it is a significant veterinary virus that causes economic losses and spreads infection among animals.

The researchers expressed their sincere gratitude to the College Deanery for its unlimited support, for providing all necessary laboratory equipment, and for overcoming all obstacles encountered during the research work.

On this occasion, the College Deanery extends its congratulations to the research team and wishes them continued success and excellence.
