Detection of Melatonin’s Effect on the Toxicity of the Insecticide Deltamethrin in Male Rats,”

Presented by student Jasim Abdullah Jasim in the field of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the discussion hall.

The study concluded that melatonin could counteract the toxic effects of deltamethrin, as it increases the median lethal dose of deltamethrin, significantly reduces toxicity ranks, surpasses diazepam in effectiveness, and alleviates histopathological changes in the brain, heart, and liver caused by deltamethrin exposure.

The discussion committee consisted of:

– Prof. Banan Khalid Abdulrahman – Chairperson

– Assoc. Prof. Ahmed Salah Nasser – Member

– Assoc. Prof. Mab Azmi Fadel – Member

– Prof. Mohammed Khalid Shandala – Member & Supervisor

Prof. Sevan Saad Al-Mahmoud, Dean of the College, and Prof. Raad Abdulghani Al-Sinjari, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, attended the discussion alongside several faculty members and postgraduate students. Following the student’s defense of his thesis and responses to the committee’s inquiries, the master’s thesis received approval.

A well-deserved congratulations to the researcher, supervisor, and the College on this remarkable scientific accomplishment! Wishing ongoing success to the department of Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology, as well as the discussion committee, in their future endeavors.
