A master’s thesis presented by Ramadan Fattah Miro Abdulrahman, titled “Isolation and Identification of Staphylococcus aureus from Chicken Farms”

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Mosul has conducted the defense of the Master’s thesis entitled:
“Isolation and Identification of Staphylococcus aureus from Chicken Farms”
A study submitted by the student Ramadan Fattah Miro Abdulrahman, specializing in Veterinary Public Health, on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The aim of this study was to assess the level of biosecurity measures in poultry farms by evaluating the contamination levels with Staphylococcus aureus in broiler chicken fields, and to identify methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The study also aimed to provide epidemiological data on the prevalence of this microorganism in broiler chickens and their surrounding environment, in addition to detecting its virulence genes. The research targeted 26 broiler farms distributed across three provinces in northern Iraq.
The study concluded that there were high isolation rates of the bacterium, along with its virulence factors, indicating its potential to cause infections that may be difficult to treat. The findings suggest that all components of the studied poultry environments may serve as potential reservoirs for the bacteria.
