A master’s thesis presented by Raja Mohammed Saleh, titled: “Laboratory Diagnosis of Fasciolosis in Sheep.”

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Mosul held a defense for the master’s thesis titled:

“Laboratory Diagnosis of Fasciolosis in Sheep.”

The study was presented by graduate student Raja Mohammed Saleh, specializing in Veterinary Pathological Diagnostics, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

The aim of the study was to diagnose Fasciola hepatica infection in sheep use:

  • Direct Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for antigen detection
  • Fluke Finder technique
  • And to compare these methods with various conventional fecal examinations.

Key findings of the study included:

  • The Fluke Finder technique can serve as an economical and practical alternative to traditional sedimentation methods, offering ease in identifying eggs microscopically.
  • The Direct ELISA method demonstrated high sensitivity, making it especially suitable for large-scale sample screening.

The thesis committee was composed of the following faculty members:

  3. Assist. Prof. Salam Abdul Ismail – Member (University of Mosul)

Following a confident and scientifically grounded defense, the thesis was approved by the committee.
