A master’s thesis presented by Sufyan Safar Khudhur, titled: “A Clinical and Diagnostic Study of Hemotropic Mycoplasma in Sheep in Mosul City, Iraq”

The College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul, held a master’s thesis defense entitled “A Clinical and Diagnostic Study of Hemotropic Mycoplasma in Sheep in Mosul City, Iraq”, presented by Sufyan Safar Khudhur (Veterinary Internal and Preventive Medicine) on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

 

The study investigated the prevalence of hemotropic Mycoplasma in sheep using Giemsa-stained blood smears and PCR on blood and tick samples, recorded associated clinical signs, evaluated ticks as potential vectors, examined risk factors, documented hematological changes, and conducted genetic analysis with phylogenetic characterization of the pathogen.

 

The examination committee, chaired by Prof. Dr. Qais Talib Shukr with members Prof. Dr. Wasan Amjad Ahmed, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wissam Salem Hassan, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Salam Abdul-Ismail (supervisor), approved the thesis following a successful defense.

 

This achievement contributes to advancing veterinary public health research and aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education.
