“A Study of Urinary System Disorders in Cats”
by the student Farah Mowafaq Khalil, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Osama Mowafaq Abduljabbar, on Wednesday, November 18, 2025.
The examination committee consisted of the following members:
- Prof. Dr. Mab Ibrahim Ahmed (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Chair
- Prof. Dr. Omar Khazal Salo (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Member
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Khudair Jasim Hussein (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Member
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Osama Mowafaq Abduljabbar (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Member and Supervisor
The study recorded various urinary system disorders in cats, the most common pyelitis (renal pelvis inflammation) detected by ultrasonography. Clinical signs varied among affected cats, with the most frequent manual sensitivity of the kidney upon palpation. Urinalysis revealed significant changes in affected cats compared to healthy ones, along with elevated serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels in diseased cats. The research highlighted the superiority of ultrasonography in confirming and accurately diagnosing urinary system disorders in cats compared to other diagnostic methods used in the study.
After the student’s confidence and scientific defense, and following the committee’s discussion, the thesis was accepted.
Congratulations to the researcher, the supervisor, the College, and the Department of Internal and Preventive Medicine on this scientific achievement. This defense contributes to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
