A master’s thesis presented by Soran Abdullah Qader “Seroprevalence of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever in Sheep and Goats in Erbil”

The defense of a master’s thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Internal and Preventive Medicine, titled “Seroprevalence of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever in Sheep and Goats in Erbil“, by the student Soran Abdullah Qader, supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Khidr Jassim Hussein was held on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
The examination committee comprises the following members:

- Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdulmuhsin Saleh (College of Veterinary Medicine — University of Mosul) — Member.

The study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus and to investigate associated risk factors using the indirect enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in sheep and goats in Erbil Governorate. The overall seroprevalence was 7.83%, with sheep showing a higher prevalence rate compared to goats.
After the student defended his thesis with scientific rigor and confidence and following the committee’s deliberation, the thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the researcher, the supervisor, the college, and the Department of Internal and Preventive Medicine on this scientific achievement. This defense contributes to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
