Field visit to animal shelter

The Department of Pathology and Poultry Diseases organized a scientific visit to the Animal Shelter Center in Nineveh Governorate on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.

The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the importance of animal care and animal rights, and to provide practical knowledge on how to care for animals and their living environments. During the visit, students learned the procedures for handling animals that are transported outside the governorate and the laboratory tests performed to ensure the animals’ safety and health and to prevent disease transmission. One of the objectives of the visit was to provide a field-learning opportunity: students met the center’s staff and became familiar with veterinary treatment and care methods, thereby broadening their scientific and practical horizons.

The College of Veterinary Medicine — University of Mosul is keen to support and encourage scientific field trips because of their significant role in strengthening students’ practical and knowledge-based skills, linking curricula to real-world field practice, and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).
