Utilizing Areas Outside the Boundaries of the University of Mosul for Shade Trees

The Agricultural Committee at the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, organized a workshop entitled “Utilizing Areas Outside the Boundaries of the University of Mosul for Shade Trees” on Thursday, 4 December 2025.

The workshop was presented by Lecturer Ali Abdulwahab Mahmood (Department of Veterinary Public Health) and addressed several key themes, including the importance of making use of vacant spaces by planting shade trees, the role of shade trees in improving the climate, moderating temperatures, and reducing heat emissions, as well as their contribution to enhancing psychological well-being.

This workshop is part of a series of activities through which the College seeks to promote a culture of sustainable development and support environmental innovations aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). These efforts aim to prepare an aware university generation capable of contributing to the development of a green campus and a sustainable future.
