Early Detection Matters: Newborn Screening Workshop

The Deanery of the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Health Promotion Division – Nineveh Health Directorate, a health center, and the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, organized a workshop entitled “Newborn Screening Examination” on Monday, December 15, 2025.

The workshop was delivered by Specialist Physician Abdulmunim Suleiman Ahmed (Health Promotion Division – Public Health Department). It included a detailed explanation of newborn screening tests and their benefits, as well as highlighting the dangers of genetic diseases and the harm caused by delayed diagnosis.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Assistant Professor Dr. Wasim Hanna Kroumi, Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, presented a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of his role in the workshop.

This workshop is part of a series of activities through which the College seeks to raise students’ awareness, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by preparing a conscious university generation capable of contributing to building a positive and integrated academic environment.
