College of Veterinary Medicine

In line with its scientific responsibility and active role in promoting health and community awareness, and as a reflection of the university’s mission in serving society, the College of Veterinary Medicine organized a scientific and awareness visit on Thursday, December 18, 2025, to Ard Al-Rafidain Private Secondary School for Girls, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members and students from the college.

The visit included a valuable awareness lecture during which a number of important guidelines were presented to the students on proper methods of handling pet food and ways to prevent zoonotic diseases (diseases transmitted between humans and animals), as well as correct and humane interaction with animals and the importance of raising them according to sound scientific principles.

The lecture also highlighted the vital role of veterinarians in controlling zoonotic diseases and introduced the importance of ultrasound technology in diagnosing pregnancy in cats, presented in a simplified and purposeful manner suitable for the students’ academic level.

In addition, symbolic gifts were presented to the students during the visit as a gesture of encouragement and motivation, aiming to instill confidence and ambition and to convey a message of support.

At the conclusion of the visit, the school principal expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to the delegation from the College of Veterinary Medicine for this meaningful initiative, emphasizing the importance of such visits in raising health awareness and enhancing scientific culture among students.
