Taking Field Samples of Faba Bean Lines Received from the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA).

As part of its efforts to develop field crops and improve their productivity, the laboratories of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research (C.AFCAR) commenced on Sunday, June 14, 2026, the process of taking and recording a number of field traits for faba bean (broad bean) lines received from ICARDA. This work is being carried out within the framework of research programs dedicated to evaluating and developing varieties suitable for local environmental conditions.

Researchers at AFCAR center emphasized that these studies contribute to identifying promising lines with high productive efficiency and the ability to adapt to dry farming conditions. This, in turn, supports crop breeding and genetic improvement programs, thereby enhancing food security and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

This practice aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including: Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
