A Seminar on the Akkadian Princess Enheduanna

As part of the academic activities of the Department of Ancient Iraqi Languages ​​for the academic year 2025-2026, a seminar entitled “The Akkadian Princess Enheduanna: Her Priestly Life and Literary Works” was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The seminar was presented by Master’s student Hiba Maysar Abdulrahman and Assistant Professor Dr. Nabil Khalid Sheet. The seminar addressed the naming, lineage, family, upbringing, personality, and work of Princess Enheduanna, as well as how she was appointed High Priestess of the moon god Nanna. It also discussed the reasons that led the Akkadian King Sargon to appoint her in the city of Ur, in addition to the princess’s religious and secular duties. At the end of the seminar, the researcher discussed Princess Enheduanna’s poetic talent and the most important discovered works of the princess.
