Symposuim – Department of English Language

On Thursday, March 12, 2026,  the department of English Language held a symposuim titled “Intersecting Worlds: Language and Literature in Dialogue”. It was held in the formal hall of the department of English Language at the College of Arts. The event was organized jointly by the department of English, the Continuing Education Unit within the college, the department of Studies and Planning, and the Sustainable Development Unit at the university presidency.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the seminar emphasized advancing education, fostering equality, supporting economic development, strengthening peace and effective institutions, and encouraging cultural and intellectual exchange. It explored the dynamic relationship between language and literature, focusing on how their interaction contributes to deeper cultural awareness and enhanced human communication.
The session featured presentations by Dr. Ashraf Riad Abdullah, assistant lecturer Shaima Zuhair Hammoudi, assistant lecturer Mashaal Faris Saleh, assistant lecturer Younis Hamad Ahmed, and assistant lecturer Abdullah AAbdul Aal Abbas, who collectively examined the ways in which language and literature inform and enrich each other in shaping dialogue and understanding across societies.
