A master’s thesis at the department of Arabic Language, on: Fantasy in the Umayyad Poetry
A master’s thesis entitled (Fantasy in the Umayyad Poetry) was discussed on September 5, 2023, at the college of Arts/ Arabic Language department, Al-Atheer Hall, and a number of the department teachers as well as postgraduate students attended the discussion.
The study, presented by Nashwa Khalil Ibrahim, aimed at responding to the claim that fantasy was a property of the prosaic narration more than poetry. The response came through reading selected samples of the Umayyad poetry in addition to investigating the fantasy techniques and characteristics in the structure of the poetic texts and the extent to which they apply. In addition, the study revealed the presence of fantasy in the Umayyad poetry and the references from which it was deduced, as well as revealing the role and the goal of fantasy along with its significance in the poetic text.
