Faculty Member Participates in Cyber Extortion Conference

Professor Dr. Mohammed Salem Saadallah, a faculty member in the Department of Arabic Language, participated in the conference titled: “Digital Prevention: Nineveh’s Shield Against Cyber Extortion.” The conference was organized by the People’s Aid Organization (PAO) in collaboration with the Office of the Parliament as part of the “Youth Cohesion” activities in partnership with the British Council.
The event was attended by the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, the Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate/Nineveh Branch, Dr. Basil Khalaf Hamoud, as well as several esteemed members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Nineveh Governorate Council, led by the Head of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Professor Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayat.
The conference addressed a range of treatments and issues related to the phenomenon of cyber extortion, highlighting the roles of legislative, judicial, educational, and security institutions, in addition to religious and tribal institutions, and civil society organizations in activating cultural prevention and promoting social awareness to mitigate the escalation of this issue. Dr. Mohammed Salem spoke about the methods of cyber extortion and the utilization of academic expertise and university knowledge in confronting this phenomenon.
