Master’s Thesis Examines the Application of Nord’s Model in Translating Political Texts

The Department of Translation at the College of Arts held a public defense for a Master’s thesis titled “The Application of Nord’s Model to Translating English Political Texts into Arabic” on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
The session was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, the Head of the Department, Dr. Hala Khalid Najim, and several faculty members.
Research Focus and Objectives
The study, presented by student Rahma Essam Abdulwahid Ibrahim, explored the application of Christiane Nord’s functionalist model in translating political discourse. Key areas of focus included:
