The Department of English Language was established in 1993, which grants a Bachelor’s degree in Education in the English Language. It aims to prepare competent English language teachers who possess the basic skills to teach in basic education schools, in addition to preparing them educationally and training them in scientific research through research projects, familiarity with linguistic theories, and developing students’ ability to learn. Speech, linguistic communication, expression and proper pronunciation. In addition to developing teaching capabilities through seminars, publishing annual research, and cooperating with corresponding departments. The department contributes to community service through cooperation with the General Directorate of Education and participating in field visits held by the college. The department also includes an evening study that was created for the academic year 2017-2018. The number of faculty members in it is (22) teaching staff, 4 of whom hold a doctorate degree and 18 of whom hold a doctorate degree. They hold a master’s degree, and the department includes 2 professors, 5 assistant professors, 14 teachers, and 2 assistant teachers. The department opened a master’s degree in 2003-2004 in the field of linguistics and stopped, then resumed the academic year 2018-2019. Where the master’s student obtains a master’s degree in linguistics and English as a foreign language, the number of students in postgraduate studies in the course stage is 17 male and female students, while in the thesis writing stage there are 14 male and female students. As for the students in the initial stages, they are as follows: the first is in the morning (125), the first is in the evening (120), the second is in the morning (296), the second is in the evening (179), the third is in the morning (463), and the number in the evening is (135), the fourth. The morning number is (238), and the evening number is (249).
