Head of Department About the Geography Department
Assistant Professor Dalia Farouk Abdel Karim
The Geography Department was established in the College of Basic Education in 2002. Prior to this date, it was merged under the name of the Social Sciences Department. The department awards a Bachelor’s degree in Basic Education in Geography. Evening studies were also launched in the 2018-2019 academic year. The department aims to prepare a generation of geography graduates with scientific skills in various geographical fields, including theoretical, practical, applied, quantitative, technical and information aspects. Such that their future work is not limited to the educational aspect, but rather their skills enable them to enter the labor market and practice various jobs that are consistent with the scientific abilities they acquired during their studies in the Geography Department. Therefore, the department seeks to prepare a geographical cadre familiar with all scientific and information technologies, so that they are able to serve the university and society and influence it. The department follows the semester system (courses), as the academic year is divided into two semesters. At the end of each semester, a final exam is held for the academic subject that covers the entire semester’s curriculum. In the eighth semester (fourth grade), the student undertakes practical work in elementary and basic schools for a full semester until the end of school exams. He also submits a graduation research project in this academic year.
