Master Thesis Viva-Physics Department

Master Thesis Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled “Study of the properties of some Even – Even nuclei “The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the Master Thesis Viva entitled “Study of the properties of some Even – Even nuclei”,On Sunday, July 17, 2022, the College staff including the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Physics, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva. This study, presented by the Master student Amal Mahdi Saleh Al Nuaimi in the Department of Physics, In this study, the ground state band (GSB), β, and γ bands of even-even isotopes were calculated using the interacting boson model (IBM-1), the Semi-Empirical Formula (SEF), and the new empirical equation (NEE). The initial step in determining the properties of the nuclei was to calculate the ratio between the second and first excited states . The corresponding coefficients for the IBM-1 model of rotational SU (3) were also determined. In addition, the corresponding coefficients of the two equations SEF and NEE were calculated through the fitting process of the ground state band and β and γ bands. The energy state bands for the three methods (IBM-1, SEF, and NEE) were compared with the available experimental values, and the NEE method was found to be the most compatible with the experimental data. The IBM-1 derived electric quadrupole transition probabilities B(E2) were calculated for the isotopes studied and found to agree well with the available experimental data. The potential energy surface (EPS) of the isotopes was then computed on the basis of its importance in determining the final shape of the nucleus. Using two significant parameters of the potential energy surface, namely the parameter of the total distortion of the nucleus and the deviation from axial symmetry, EPS concludes that these nuclei possess rotational properties. The Viva committee was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasser Yahya Qassem ,University of Mosul / College of Education for Pure Science and the membership of Asst. Prof. Hana Nafeh Aziz, Al-Hamdaniya University / College of Education, Lecturer Dr. Ali Bashir Aziz, University of Mosul / College of Environmental Sciences and Technologies, and under the supervision and membership of both Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Abed Dawood Al-Jubbori, University of Mosul / College of Education for Pure Science and Lecturer Dr. Rabee Behnam Kheder Al-Khayat, University of Mosul / College of Education for Pure Science.
