This study, presented by the master student

Massara Naktal Khaleel Yaseen in the Department of Chemistry, included the development of two rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric methods for determination of microgram amounts of amisulpride based on the application of diazotization coupling reactions. By using tow reagents iminodibenzyl (IDB) and ferron (7-iodo-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid). The methods depended on the diazotized of the amisulpride using sodium nitrite in hydrochloric acid medium , and then coupling it with the iminodibenzyl reagent (IDB) in an acidic medium to form a stable azo-violet dye or ferron in sodium carbonate medium to produce a red dye giving maximum absorption at 522 nm which show maximum absorbance at the wavelength of 558 nm. The methods obeyed Beer’s law in the concentrations range 0.4-16 and 0.4-12.8 µg/ml.
