Master Thesis Viva-Biology Department

Master Thesis Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled” Inhibition Efficacy Of Growth Microorganisms By Some Arthropoda Body Extracts “The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the Master Thesis Viva entitled ” Inhibition Efficacy Of Growth Microorganisms By Some Arthropoda Body Extracts “,On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Biology, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva. In this study, presented by the M.Sc. Student Ali Ali Hameed AL- Dhuwayyif in the Department of Biology, antimicrobial compound to inhibit growth of bacteria from insect body extraction following insect exposed to the high microbial stress had been chose: American cockroach Periplaneta americana, scarab beetles, Pentadon algerium immature stages (larvae and adult) of paper wasp, Polistes watti besides grasshopper Ailolopus thaiossinus. Body extract and extract whole insect by elution had been tested for bacterial inhibition. Extraction of the mixture of active ingredients with high concentration, the procedure by the solvents had been used experimentally in comparison, hot and cold methanol extracts had been tested for the first unusual application the hot infusion of insect body extract in other articles. The body extracts of the insects; Periplaneta americana, Ailolopus thaiossinus, Polistes watti larvae and Pentadon algerium were exhibited meaningful growth inhibition of the pathogenic marker bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae in relation to the standard drugs Gentamicin (CN) and Ceftriaxone (CRO). It was found significant variation in antibacterial activity between the applied extracts. Among the insect body extracts, extract of the americana cockroach more antibacterial effectiveness with inhibition zone 29.0 mm for Staphylococcus aureus even in comparison with standard drugs (CRO, CN) 13.0 mm, while for P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae 24.3 and 22.3 mm which resistant to CRO effectiveness. In comparison between cold and hot methanol extracts for the applied body species. For the first search application insect body extracts . In the present study hot extract of A. thaiossinus and P. algerium more effective than cold one. For A. thaiossinus inhibition growth of Staph. aureus, E. coli, P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae with hot extract 28.3, 24,3, 26.7 and 22.0 mm , and for cold same extract 14.7, 8.3, 9.0 and 11.3 mm respectively. Otherwise, for P. algerium, the inhibition of the bacteria Staph. aureus, E. coli, P. aeruginosa and K. pneumoniae by hot extract were 9.7, 31.7, 10.7 and 26.7 mm, and with cold extract were 7.7, 6.0, 6.0 and 6.0 mm respectively.Body extract of selected insect species their habitate under microbial stress have more antimicrobial compounds through growth inhibition of pathogenic bacteria significantly better than standard drugs. In present study, insect body extract method inhibition of the tested bacteria with insect body extract have more antibacterial activity than elution extraction method. The Viva committee was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jassim Fathi Ali University Of Mosul College Of Education For Pure Science and the membership of Asst.
