Master Thesis Viva-Mathematics Department

Master Thesis Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled ” Numerical Solution of Fluid Flow in Horizontal Channels Under the Influence of a Magnetic Field “The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the Master Thesis Viva entitled ” Numerical Solution of Fluid Flow in Horizontal Channels Under the Influence of a Magnetic Field “,On Sunday, August 28, 2022, the College staff including the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Mathematics, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva. This study, presented by the Master student Muna Manaf Younis in the Department of Mathematics, investigated heat transfer by natural convection for a dissipable fluid flowing in a channel with porous walls in this work. The flow behavior of the fluid through a horizontal channel, as well as the distribution of temperatures inside the channel and under the influence of a vertical magnetic field at the channel level, were described using a mathematical model represented by a system of two-dimensional non-linear partial differential equations. In both unstable state and steady state, numerical methods using the alternating directions implicit approach (ADI), which is one of the finite differences methods, were used to solve the differential equations. This is after converting equations from dimensional formulas to non-dimensional formulas using are of the dimensional conversion methods. The effect of the Prandtle number, the Schmidt number, and the Gratshof number was also studied, showing that by increasing or decreasing these numbers, stability is reached or not. finally, we developed conclusions and recommendations for future work and development of the model under study. The Viva committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mawlood Abdul hadi, University of Baghdad, College of Education for Pure Sciences and the membership of Asst. Prof. Raqeeb Hammadi Rajab, University of Mosul, College of Engineering, Lecturer. Dr. Ghanim Mohammed Salih, University of Mosul, College of Education for Pure Science and under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Raheem Hammodat, University of Mosul, College of Education for Pure Science.
