PH.D. Dissertation Viva-Chemistry Department
PH.D. Dissertation Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled ” Synthesis And Characterization Of Some Metal Complexes Of Hydrazone Ligands Derived From Ibuprofen, Naproxen And Diclofenac Drugs With Expected Inhibition Effects Against Cancer Cells “The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the PH.D. Dissertation Viva entitled ” Synthesis And Characterization Of Some Metal Complexes Of Hydrazone Ligands Derived From Ibuprofen, Naproxen And Diclofenac Drugs With Expected Inhibition Effects Against Cancer Cells “,On Monday, September 12, 2022, the College staff including the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Chemistry, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva. This study, presented by the PH.D. Student Miaad Adil Jamal Al- Mula in the Department of Chemistry, deals with synthesis and characterization of sixty three new complexes of nine hydrazone ligands derived from some non-steroidal drugs (ibuprofen , naproxen and diclofenac) with aldehydes (Vanillin, Acetophenone and 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde) and reaction with chloride and nitrate of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II)). All complexes have been prepared in mole ratio (1:2) metal : ligand.Diferent techniques have been used to characterized the prepared ligands and their complexes such as elemental analysis (C.H.N), and the metal contents were also determined by using atomic absorption. Besides the ligands and complexes were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, infrared and electronic spectra, NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductivity measurementsOn the basis of the above different physicochemical measurements and infrared spectral data suggest that all the ligands act as neutral bidentate ligands in metal complexes via nitrogen atom of azomethine group and oxygen atom of carbonyl group and it was indicated from various measurements that the hexa and tetra- coordinate complexes have an octahedral and square planer or tetrahedral structures. The Viva committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Maher Abdulrazzaq Mohammed / University of Mosul / College of Education for girls and the membership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ahmed Mohammed / University of Kirkuk / College of Education for Pure Sciences, Asst. Prof. Dr. Amaal Younis Ridha / University of Mosul / College of Education for Pure Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jassim Mohammed Alyass / University of Mosul / College of Education for Pure Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdalnabi Humada / University of Tikrit / College of Sciences and under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Amira Jihad Ahmad Al- Shaheen / University of Mosul / College of Education for Pure Science.
