Master’s Thesis in the College of Education for Pure Science, Department of Chemistry…

In fulfillment of the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (quality education), a master’s thesis entitled “Evaluation and Treatment of Wastewater in Wadi Akab to Achieve Environmental Sustainability” was discussed in the College of Education for Pure Science at the University of Mosul on Monday, July 28, 2025. The thesis defense was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Azzam Salahuddin Younis, and a number of faculty members from the department.
The study, presented by the student Muhammad Diaa Rashad Al-Ubaidi from the Department of Chemistry, addressed a scientific approach that promotes the concept of a circular economy by recycling solid and liquid waste to produce an effective material for wastewater treatment in Mosul. This approach contributes to reducing the environmental burden and achieving high efficiency in removing pollutants. This approach represents an environmental innovation that reflects the rational use of resources and contributes to reducing reliance on traditional chemicals. Artificial intelligence technologies were also incorporated to accurately assess water quality, enhancing smart environmental management tools. The study results demonstrate the potential of integrating sustainable treatment and smart assessment in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly with regard to water treatment, clean water, integrated resource management, and pollution reduction.
The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Amiri Muhammad, with Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Ghaleb Sheikho and Assistant Professor Dr. Hisham Muhammad Khudr Saleh as members, and Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Hazem Sabri Al-Mashhadani as both member and supervisor.
The esteemed Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Amiri Muhammad from the College of Science at Tikrit University for his travel and participation in the student’s thesis defense.
The master’s thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the student and his supervisor on this scientific achievement.
