Master’s Thesis in the College of Education for Pure Science, Department of Mathematics…

In fulfillment of the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (Quality Education), a master’s thesis entitled “Improving the Dai-Liu Conjugate Gradient Method for Finding the Minimum of Unconstrained Optimization Problems” was defended in the College of Education for Pure Science at the University of Mosul on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
The study, submitted by the student Marwa Muthanna Muhammad from the Department of Mathematics, addressed conjugate gradient methods for finding the minimum of unconstrained optimization problems. The study focused on addressing the gap, and two different optimal choices of the constant were derived based on the modified pseudo-Newtonian equation.
The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Amal Jassim Muhammad, and Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Abdul-Jabbar Abdul-Baqi and Assistant Professor Dr. Azzam Salahuddin Younis as members, and Professor Dr. Basem Abbas Hasan as member and supervisor.
The master’s thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the student and supervisor for this scientific achievement.
