Doctoral Dissertation at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry…

In fulfillment of the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (quality education), a doctoral dissertation entitled “Development of Analytical Methods for the Estimation of Some Pharmaceutical Compounds and Their Binary Mixtures Using Various Reagents” was defended at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Mosul.
Part of the dissertation defense was attended by the Head of the Chemistry Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Thanoon Ali, and a number of department faculty members.
The study, presented by researcher Zaid Abdul-Kareem Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Shuraifi from the Chemistry Department, addressed the development of a direct, simple, and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the estimation of omeprazole and pantoprazole sodium in their pure forms and in pharmaceutical preparations. The method relied on the use of tropoline dye (OO) as a chromogenic reagent to form ionic complexes with pharmaceutical compounds in an aqueous solution, followed by extraction with chloroform.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Nabeel Sabeeh Othman, and Assistant Professor Dr. Marwan Muhammad Abdullah, Assistant Professor Dr. Khalida Muhammad Omar, Assistant Professor Dr. Subhi Mohsen Jarallah, and Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Abdulhai Muhammad as members, and Experienced Professor Dr. Diaa Najm Al-Sabha as both member and supervisor.
The doctoral dissertation was accepted. Congratulations to the researcher and supervisor on this scientific achievement.
