Master’s Thesis at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Physics…

In fulfillment of the fourth goal (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals, a master’s thesis entitled “Conductivity Study for Optimal Performance of CIGS/OVC/CdS/i-ZnO Solar Cells Using SCAPS-1D” was defended at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Mosul on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Part of the thesis defense was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Saadi Saeed, and a number of department faculty members.
The study, presented by student Abdul-majeed Ahmed Khudr Abdullah from the Physics Department, examined different types of each layer of the proposed solar cell, individually. First, several types of transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layers were tested, including: ITO, SnO2, ZTO, FTO, ZnO:Al, V2O2, and ZnO. The most efficient layer among these was SnO2.
The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Moataz Saleh Hassan, and Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Rabeh Mohammed and Assistant Professor Dr. Ghazwan Ghazi Ali as members, and Professor Dr. Raad Ahmed Rasool as both member and supervisor.
The master’s thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the student and his supervisor on this scientific achievement.
