Master’s Thesis at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry…

In fulfillment of the third goal (Good Health and Well-being) and the fourth goal (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals, a master’s thesis entitled “Evaluation of the Therapeutic Efficacy of Grape Extracts on Blood Indices in Rats with Leukemia” was defended at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Mosul on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
The thesis was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Jassim Fatehi Ali, and the Head of the Chemistry Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Thanoon Ali.
The study, presented by the student Rahma Naktal Wali from the Department of Chemistry, addressed the extraction and evaluation of the biological activity of a group of natural compounds extracted from grape peels, and their impact on rats with induced leukemia. Three types of extracts were obtained, including a lipid extract, an alcoholic extract, and anthocyanin compounds, as well as a protein precipitate. These extracts were analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to identify the nature of the active compounds.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Omar Younis Muhammad, along with Professor Dr. Nashwan Ibrahim Abbou and Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Hadi Jassim as members, and Assistant Professor Dr. Hamza Namiq Hameed as both member and supervisor.
The master’s thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the student and supervisor on this scientific achievement.
