Master Thesis Viva-Mathematics Department

Master Thesis Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled ” Using Kriging Model for Approximating Computer Models and Quantifying their Uncertainty with Application “The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the Master Thesis Viva entitled ” Using Kriging Model for Approximating Computer Models and Quantifying their Uncertainty with Application “,On Monday, November 28, 2022, the College staff including the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Mathematics, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva. In this study, presented by the Master student Roaa Wael Hasan Al-Naser in the Department of Mathematics, the researchers review the process of building Kriging models and propose some measures that can be used for validating Kriging models. These measures are based on comparing Kriging model predictions and computer model outputs. They explain the Kriging model via a simple computer model and we explain the effect of the correlation parameter on the Kriging model performance. We also apply the Kriging model to some real examples of computer models, the Borehole model, and the Piston Simulation function. They also investigate the performance of the proposed measures via some proposed numerical and graphical measures. Based on the numerical and graphical results of the proposed measures, Kriging models provide accurate results. The Viva committee was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Osama Bashir Shukr Al-Hanun/College of Computer Science and Mathematics University of Mosul and the membership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Masoud Muhammed Hassan/ College of Science University of Zakho, Lecturer Dr. Ghanim Mhmood Dhaher AL- Hassod, University of Mosul, College of Education for Pure Sciences and under the supervision and membership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Younus Hazim Ismael Al-Taweel, University of Mosul, College of Education for Pure Sciences.
