the college of education for pure science, university of mosul, has done the ph.d. dissertation viva entitled ” using of synthetic zeolite and compare it with modified natural zeolite in the effect of bacterial activity and chemical and physical properties of dentures”

On Thursday, July 6, 2023, the college staff including the respected dean of the college, assistant professor dr. qais ismail ibrahim, the honorable scientific associate and administrative associate, the honorable head of the department of chemistry, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viv

in this study, presented by the ph.d. student mayada mahmood ali al nuaimi in the department of chemistry, two types of zeolites were prepared, the first of them was synthesis of its main raw materials (silicate and aluminate which react for formation of zeolite)  from the components of the local bauxite and silica ores after analyzing them for determine their components by measurements of chemical analysis, x-ray diffraction (xrd) and x-ray fluorescence (xrf) . the second zeolite was prepared from a natural clay have a high content of natural zeolite from the al-hawi area – mosul. then it was purified by removing undesirable components to obtain a pure natural zeolite

as for the natural zeolite, it did not show significant activity against bacteria compared to the synthetic  zeolite. …………………

the observation of the infrared measurements of the resins of dentures (control group) and the other samples added at different concentrations, no changes were shown in the shape and locations of the absorbance’s  of the functional groups compared to the original polymer…………………
