Master’s Thesis in the College of Education for Pure Science, Department of Physics…

A master’s thesis entitled “A Study of Alpha Particle Effect Parameters and Some Physical Properties of Cadmium Oxide Deposited on the CR-39 Nuclear Trace Detector Using the Perm Coating Method” was discussed at the College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Part of the discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Fatehi Ali, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Saadi Saeed, and a number of the department faculty members.
The study, presented by the student Rania Ahmed Mumtaz Abdul-Latif Al-Obaidi from the Department of Physics, addressed two parts. The first part is concerned with the nuclear component of the study, namely, the preparation and irradiation of a nuclear trace detector. Samples of (1×1) cm2 were cut from the CR-39 detector and then irradiated with alpha particles emitted from an americium-241Am source with an efficiency of 1µC. The energies were chosen to be (3.91 and 3.14, 2.92, and 2.38 MeV) perpendicular to the detector surface and for varying irradiation times. The second part of the study is concerned with the deposition of cadmium oxide on the CR-39 nuclear trace detector using the permalloy method, followed by annealing at 80°C.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Yasser Yahya Qasim, and Professor Dr. Asmaa Ahmed Aziz and Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Hamoud as members, and Professor Dr. Mushtaq Abd Dawood Al-Jabouri as both a member and supervisor. The Dean of the College presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Asmaa Ahmed Aziz from the College of Education for Pure Sciences at Tikrit University for her efforts in traveling and participating in the student’s discussion. The master’s thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the student and her supervisor on this academic achievement.
