Dissertation Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled ” Studying The Effect Of Fasting On The Level Of Parameters And Enzymes In Patients With Diabetic “The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the PH.D. Dissertation Viva entitled ” Studying The Effect Of Fasting On The Level Of Parameters And Enzymes In Patients With Diabetic “,On Monday, February 6, 2023, the College staff including the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Chemistry, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva. This study, presented by the PH.D. Student Raghad Amer Ahmed Al-Hayali in the Department of Chemistry, divided into in two axes, the first axis deals with the effect of Ramadan fasting on biochemical variables and the percentage of fatty acids in persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as the effect of age and gender on the level of these variables. This study included (110) samples of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes who did not fast and (60) samples of healthy people (control group) who did not fast, as well as a follow-up on the same people after fasting Ramadan for (20) days, male and female, with ages ranging from 20 to 75 years old. Carbohydrate variables (glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin HbA1c), body mass index (BMI), lipid variables (Total cholesterol(TC), triglycerides(TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(VLDL-C), phospholipids, TC/HDL-C, TG/HDL-C, LDL-C, Apo AI, ApoB100, lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase enzyme LCAT), vitamins, antioxidants (vitamin D3, vitamin E, glutathione, malondialdehyde (MDA), paraoxonase 2 (aryl esterase) PON2), mineral zinc Zn, cobalt Co, selenium Se, magnesium Mg, calcium Ca) and renal function (urea, creatinine, uric acid) using ready-made analysis number (Kits). The current study showed the results of analyzing and measuring the percentage of saturated fatty acids (SFA), monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in the fatty components of the blood serum for its three parts (cholesterol ester, triglycerides, and phospholipids) using a Chromatograph Gas Capillary (CGC).The second axis of the study dealt with purifying and studying a partial of a molecular biochemical study of the enzyme lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) from the blood serum of people with type 1 diabetes. Several purification techniques were applied, starting with precipitation with ammonium sulfate,The Viva committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Omar Younis Muhammad / University of Mosul /College of Education for Pure Science and the membership of Asst.
