University of Mosul : Discussion of master’s thesis on ( Designing and implementing a prototype system reading mechanism for measures of electric power consumers )

A master’s thesis was discussed in Computer Engineering Department /college of Engineering at University ofMosul on ( Designing and implementing a prototype system reading mechanism for measures ofelectric power consumers) for the student ( Mohammed Samir Mohammed ) on Tuesday 24/09/2020 via electronicplatform (Google Meet ).The thesis included designing a complete electrical control device by adding (Relay)To the main power source for the home to be used to cut off the electricity in case the bill is not paid or any other reasons.Asafety system wasalsoadopted in terms of approaching and tampering with the device, by adding an ultrasound sensor prepared at a specific distance to alert in the event of proximity and tampering with the device.
Use a device (Raspberry Pi 3 model B) For its cheap price, open source and libraryOpenCVRich, in addition to its high performance in image processing operations as well as what distinguishes it ( Raspberry Pi 3 ) It is the use of a system ( Linux ),A well-known system ofhigher faithfully. The algorithm used was tested on890real images of different meters, and the accuracy of the algorithm was100%,thus it was better than its comparable counterpart. The thesis concluded that this method is characterized by simplicity, speed and accuracy, as it provides all the necessary information about the subscribers, including the meter identification numbers and their reading values, which represent the amount of energy they consume .The discussion committee consistedof:
1. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khurshid … (Chairman).
2. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahlam Fadhil Mahmood … ( Member ).
3. Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabee Mowafaq Hajim …. ( Member ).
4. Dr. Dhafer AbdulFattah AbdulQader … ( member and supervisor ).Then the discussion committee read the decision which included acceptance the thesis and award the student the master degree.
