Master thesis at Department of Civil Engineering on ” Nonlinear Finite Elements Analysis of RC Continuous Deep Beams “

A Master thesis was discussed in Department of Civil Engineering /College of Engineering/University of Mosul entitled ” Nonlinear Finite Elements Analysis of RC Continuous Deep Beams “on Monday(23/08/2021) submitted by postgraduate student (Ahmed Bashar M. Sabre Al-Samady).The thesis dealt with the application of the finite element method using the program(ANSYS 2020)in numerical analysis of deep reinforced concrete beams. The thesis aimed to represent reinforced concrete using the brickelement(SOLID 56)Representing iron plates using the element(SOLID 185)Whereas, rebar was represented by the element(LINK 180)Taking into account the nonlinear behavior of concrete and steel reinforcement. The thesis concluded that the failure load in deep reinforced concrete beams depends on the ratio of the shear space to the depth. It was also found that the stiffness coefficient is very important for obtaining stability when using numerical analysis. The thesis recommended to study the behavior of deep reinforced concrete beams with flexible supports under eccentric loads in the presence of openings. The discussion committee was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayad Amjad Aghwanand membership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Sufyan Younis Ahmed, Assist. Prof. Haitham Hazim Saeed, Prof. Dr. Bayar Jaafar Mohammed Alsulayvani (1st Supervisor), and Dr. Khalaf Ibrahem Mohammad (2nd Supervisor).
