Master thesis at Department of Electrical Engineering on “MIMO Antenna Selection in the 5G Communication Systems”
A master thesis was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering / University of Mosul entitled “MIMO Antenna Selection in the 5G Communication Systems” submitted by postgraduate student (Sawsan Najeeb Abdullah Alrawi) on Tuseday, Sep. 7, 2021.The thesis study that the effect of antenna selection was studied for each of the amplitude, time period, and energy efficiency performance, and the following parameters were changed, the number of transmitting and receiving antennas, the number of selected antennas, as well as the signal-to-noise ratio. The results obtained showed that the proposed algorithm is the closest in terms of capacity to the ideal algorithm, as this method is considered almost ideal for its application in multi-input and multi-output systems to improve performance in the fifth generation, followed by (greedy) algorithm and then the algorithm (norm), and then the random algorithm. It was also noted through the comparison in terms of energy efficiency that it is possible to increase the energy efficiency when choosing a certain number of antennas, but when the number of antennas reaches a certain limit and the state of full selection is reached, the energy efficiency begins to decrease and this is one of the advantages of choosing antennas.
