Master Thesis at Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering on “Effect of Catch Cans Size and Can Spacing on Calculation of Water Distribution Uniformity for Grid Sprinkler System”

A master’s thesis was discussed in Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “Effect of Catch Cans Size and Can Spacing on Calculation of Water Distribution Uniformity for Grid Sprinkler System” on Wednesday, Sep. 15, 2021 submitted by postgraduate student (Ahmed Hazim Hameed). The main objective of the study is to know the effect of catch cans size and can spacing on calculating of water distribution uniformity by using different spacing between sprinklers for several sprinklers heads, ten tests were conducted for different sprinkler heads. The study found, within the surrounding circumstances and its limitations, that in the absence of wind and the symmetry of the water distribution pattern around the sprinkler, there is no effect for the diameter of the catch cans on the pattern of water distribution along the ray, each representing a radius of a circle of wetness at its center the sprinkler, and there is no effect of the diameter of the catch cans on the Calculate both the uniformity coefficient UC and distribution uniformity coefficient DU, the study also showed that both the uniformity coefficient UC and distribution uniformity coefficient DU increase with the increase in the spacing between the catch cans, and this increase in the distribution uniformity coefficient DU is approximately double what it is in the UC uniformity coefficient.
