Master thesis on “Current harmonics mitigation of model predictive controlled inverter by zero state modulation”

A master thesis was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering / University of Mosul entitled “Current harmonics mitigation of model predictive controlled inverter by zero state modulation” submitted by postgraduate student (Ibrahim Obaid Muhaisen Mayouf), supervised by Dr. Mohamad N. AbdulKaderon Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021.The thesis aims to introduce a modified MPC that operate the inverter in two states per switching interval: an active and zero state. The active state have an adjustable duty ratio determined according to the current error. A hardware based simple modulator is to be designed to implement that method after the theoretical verification. The conventional and modified (MPC) two-state modeling process was carried out using the (MATLAB/SIMULINK) programming program. and the results show that the modified MPC succeeded in reducing the current harmonics by up to( 30%) for two level inverter and by up to (15%) for three level inverter, it has been shown that the proposed method does not require sophisticated modular and inherits other MPC advantages.
