Master thesis on “A new approach to manage the profile of electrical power energy for Residential homes in Iraq (Virtual Power Plant)”

A master thesis was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering / University of Mosul entitled “A new approach to manage the profile of electrical power energy for Residential homes in Iraq (Virtual Power Plant)” submitted by postgraduate student (Ahmad Ali Khalaf), supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Omar Sharaf Al-Deen Yehya on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021.In this thesis, the concept of (Virtual power Plant VPP) is introduced as well as its components and energy management of (VPP) in residential homes are explained. Then models were presented for several cases of (VPP) using real data for loads, solar energy system and batteries obtained from the Tigris Company in the city of Mosul, which is when the houses have real load only or when one of the houses contains a solar energy system or a solar energy system and batteries As well as controlling some loads for homes and showing the effect of separating these loads in the case of peak domestic load, as well as representing the change in efficiency and the change of seasons on the performance of the solar energy system as the main component participating in the virtual power station and finally representing the virtual power station as a residential complex consisting of thirty houses with load Real distributed over three residential branches, each branch consists of ten houses connected to each other, and each branch is connected to one of the three feeders of the electricity transformer that feeds the residential complex from the national electricity grid. Virtual power this was done using MATLAB-SIMULINK.The study showed that when using the virtual power plant (VPP), the participation shown by this station is of economic benefit as well as support for the electrical network according to the results obtained.
