Mosul Turath Prize for the Architectural Heritage Documentation of Old Mosul
Dr. Ahmed Yousif Alomary (Head of Department of Architecture Engineering) at College of Engineering, University of Mosul, participated in the Arbitration Committee for Turath Prize within the research project “Preserving the Disappearing Cultural Heritage of Post-War Mosul” which organized by Nottingham Trent University in cooperation with University of Mosul, University of Leeds,University of Wasit , ICCROM organization and British Academy Foundation.The committee also consisted of Dr. Oday Alchalabi as a researcher and project coordinator from University of Mosul /College of Engineering, Dr. Omar Al-Hafidh from Nottingham Trent University, Dr. Mohammed Jamal, head of the research project from Nottingham Trent University, Dr. Jihan Salim from University of Leeds in Britain, Dr. Sabeih Farhan fromUniversity of Wasit , and Dr. Rawhat from ICCROM.During the sessions, the committee reviewed the participations of University of Mosul’s students which included documentation of different buildings from the old city of Mosul and with various techniques. The winning submissions were selected for the final stage, which will be presented at Nottingham Trent University and University of Mosul as part of a celebration at the end ofthe research project, which is hoped to be in January, 2022.The committee also expressed its admiration for the efforts made by the members and coordinators of the project, as well as the distinguished effort of University of Mosul’s students and their interest in serving Mosul .For more information about the research project, you can visit the websitehttps://mosul-heritage.com/about-us
