PH.D Dissertation on “Smart Multi-level Inverter Based Renewable Energy Integrated With Power System”
A PH.D dissertation was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering / University of Mosul entitled “Smart Multi-level Inverter Based Renewable Energy Integrated With Power System” submitted by postgraduate student (Mohammed Tariq Majeed) on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021.The dissertation included the performance of PV system is used to compensate the need of the electrical grid and it is investigated with the use of a smart MLI. The method, of obtaintnsless number of switching power componentsobtained is investigated as well. The research is divided three major aspects:(1) The a theoretical framework, particularlyon the working principle pfMLIs and their importance for PV systems in facilitating DC-AC power conversion with high voltages, and their impact on the compensating of much amount of reactive power.(2) Implementing simulation via MATLAB software for conducting an analysis of MLIs performance, and (3) conducting an experiment ofa 10 kW PV system on site with a 3-Phase MLI. the three aspects results reveal that the using of 81-level converter is more effective and functional than using the 27-level converter. It was found that a 81-level converter can provide less value of the total harmonic distortions, less value of reactive power, higher electrical power conversion performance in comparison to 27-level converter. In addition, 81-level converter has less complexity of electrical circuit design, and a smaller number of switching patterns needed for the power conversion, which makes 81-level converter more costly and effective in the comparison to the 27-level converter.
