Master thesis on “Improving Power System Frequency Stability by Adding Energy Sources”
A Master thesis was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “Improving Power System Frequency Stability by Adding Energy Sources” submitted by (Suhib Fekry Hamid), Supervised By Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Nasser B. Al Sammak on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022.
In this thesis, Six cases were used to improve frequency stability after it was estimated and measured after disturbances. The first method is to add a multi-Band power system stabilizer (MBPSS), the second is to use the multi-mass Shaft, the third is to add a solar energy system, the fourth is to add a wind energy system, the fifth is to add an electric vehicle system, and the last is to use load separation.
This work aims to present ways to improve the frequency stability of the electrical power system by adding energy sources by evaluating and controlling the frequency. These methods have been simulated and modeled on the standard IEEE 9-Bus power system using Matlab/Simulink program, which is one of the most important programs used in the study and simulation of electrical power systems, their stability and simulation.
The results of the simulation showed the accuracy of the methods used in obtaining the best possible results to improving the frequency stability.
