Master thesis on “Optimum die design and manufacturing to produce metal couplings via forging process”

A Master thesis was discussed in Department of Mechanical Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “Optimum die design and manufacturing to produce metal couplings via forging process” submitted by (Thanoon Luqman Thanoon Alattar), Supervised By Dr. Mohammad Najeeb Abduallah On Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022.
This study included the design of a set of special molds for forming the flange coupling using Auto CAD program, and then using the DEFORM 3D simulation program to implement the forging process
The aim of this research is to design and manufacture the best metal mold for the production of a flange coupling by the hot forging process in a closed mold, where this is theoretically done using simulation to reach the best design of the coupling mold by studying the formation loads, stresses, strains, The movement of metal particles to obtain a good flow rate of the metal inside the mold cavity and to predict defects before they occur and bypass them, and then manufacture the best mold and implement the forging process in practice.
The discussion committee consisted of “Prof. Dr. Sabah Muhammad Jamil as Chairman, Prof. Jawdat Ali Yaqoub as a member, Dr. Omar Thanoon Jomaa as a member, and Dr. Muhammad Najeeb Abdullah as a member and supervisor.”
Then the decision of the discussion committee was readed and included the acceptance of the thesis with granting the student a master’s degree.
