Master thesis defense on “The development of administrative building design concepts according to architectural movements – the specificity of administrative buildings in the local context”

A Master thesis was discussed in Department of Architectural Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “The development of administrative building design concepts according to architectural movements – the specificity of administrative buildings in the local context” submitted by (Ghada Mohammed Tayeb Mustafa), Supervised By Assist. Prof. Dr. Asma Al-Dabbagh On Monday, July. 31, 2023.

The research focused on the design characteristics that achieve the human dimensions for the users of public service administrative buildings. The stages of the development of administrative buildings were reviewed from their emergence until the present time, and it was found that their design depends mainly on achieving the human dimension for their users.

After reviewing and analyzing previous studies related to achieving human dimensions for users of administrative buildings, the general research problem was reached (the lack of a clear and specific classification of design characteristics that achieve human dimensions for users of service-administrative buildings), and relying on the general research approach to solve it, which is a theoretical and analytical approach to extract characteristics Designs that achieve the human dimensions of employees and auditors of service administrative buildings and classify them clearly and specifically.

Due to the lack of studies for auditors, the research reached a special research problem, which is (the lack of clarity of the impact of the design characteristics of the scope of auditors on achieving the human dimensions for them in the service administrative buildings in the local context), and relying on the special research approach to solve it, which is a practical and applied approach by identifying the variables The design and means of measurement, and their application to (3) local service administrative buildings, then processing the data statistically, then interpreting the results of the census to (indicate the validity of the main and secondary hypotheses of the research), and one of the most important conclusions of the theoretical framework is that the design of administrative buildings since its emergence until the present time depends in a way It is essential to achieve the human dimension, and one of the most important conclusions of the practical study is to prove the validity of the main research hypothesis (the design characteristics of the scope of auditors affect the achievement of the human dimensions for them).

And proving the validity of the four secondary research hypotheses, which are, the design characteristics of the auditors’ scope affect the auditor’s ease of access to the staff offices and thus the speed of completion of his transaction, and the design characteristics of the service domain affect the ease of communication of the auditor with the employees and thus the speed of completing his transaction, and the design characteristics of the waiting hall affect the ability of the auditors to enable the auditors to Waiting, and the design characteristics of the waiting hall affect the provision of all kinds of comfort to the auditors.

The most important recommendations are the need for the human dimension in the design of buildings in general and the design of administrative buildings in particular to be present in the designer’s thought since the early stages of design until the completion of the final details of the building.
